The stadium is home to the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer. The original air-supported roof was replaced in 2011 with a retractable roof, and the venue hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. BC Place has hosted the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup final.
